VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 25, 2012) - North American Nickel Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NAN)(OTCBB:WSCRF) (CUSIP: 65704T 108) North American Nickel ("NAN") is pleased to announce that it has finalized plans for its August - September exploration program at its 100% owned Maniitsoq project. The exploration program will consist of field work and a planned 2,000 meters of diamond drilling.
Mobilization of the base camp and crew from Nuuk (capital of Greenland) to the project area is expected to begin August 13 and field investigations are scheduled to commence August 16. The diamond drill campaign is scheduled to begin August 25.
Field work will focus on checking the numerous conductive zones identified by the company's recently completed VTEM Plus helicopter-borne TEM survey (see NAN press release dated July 24, 2012 for details).
The field work will involve geologists flying to the location of priority anomalies and conducting examinations of outcropping rocks in each area. They will be looking for evidence of mineralization or any other explanation for the conductive anomaly detected in the airborne survey. Also, where the conductor has no surface expression, geologists will be looking for occurrences of rocks such as norites, or other mafic-ultramafic intrusions, that are closely associated with nickel-copper deposits. This work is designed to select and prioritize drill targets for 2012.
The drill program will be carried out with a helicopter supported drill rig. BTW sized drill core will be recovered and it is anticipated that most holes will be surveyed with a three-component bore hole electromagnetic probe to increase the effective search radius of each drill hole. It is expected that the drill campaign will be completed by the end of September.
NAN Chief Geologist, John Pattison, states, "I am pleased that the Maniitsoq project has advanced so rapidly from concept to drill stage. Thanks to our VTEM and SkyTEM surveys we have many high quality targets to choose from, which bodes well for our drill program. We are very eager to put boots on the ground and begin drill site examinations."
Xploration Services Greenland ApS of Nuuk, Greenland is supplying the field camp, expediting services and, technical and logistical support for the program. Cartwright Drilling Inc. of Goose Bay, Newfoundland has been contracted to do the drilling. Air Greenland AS of Nuuk will supply a helicopter and experienced pilots to transport field crews and move the drill. All three of these companies have extensive expertise and experience working in Greenland.

North American Nickel is a mineral exploration company with 100% owned properties in Maniitsoq, Greenland, Sudbury, Ontario, and the Thompson, Manitoba nickel belt. VMS Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE:VMS) owns 26M shares of NAN.
The Maniitsoq property in Greenland is a district scale project. It comprises a 4,983 square km mineral exploration licence covering numerous high-grade nickel-copper sulphide occurrences associated with norite and other mafic-ultramafic intrusions. The 70km plus long belt is situated along, and near, the southwest coast of Greenland, which is ice free year round.
The Post Creek/Halycon property in Sudbury is strategically located adjacent to the producing Podolsky copper-nickel-platinum group metal deposit of Quadra FNX Mining. The property lies along the extension of the Whistle Offset dyke structure. Such geological structures host major Ni-Cu-PGM deposits and producing mines within the Sudbury Camp.
The Company has 100% ownership in the high-grade Ni-Cu-PGE South Bay property near Thompson, Manitoba and the large grassroots Thompson North and Cedar Lake properties, which are part of the world-class Thompson Nickel Belt in Manitoba.
