Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - June 28, 2018) - North American Nickel Inc. (TSXV: NAN) (OTCQB: WSCRF) (CUSIP: 65704T 108) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that the 2018 exploration program has commenced at its 100% owned Maniitsoq nickel-copper-cobalt-PGM project in Southwest Greenland.
The 2018 exploration program will comprise up to 12,500 metres of drilling including borehole electromagnetic (BHEM) surveys and will test melanorite portions of prioritized intrusions at Fossilik, P-030-P-032, P-053, and in the footprint of the Imiak Hill Complex where more continuous zones of high Ni tenor sulphide mineralization can be identified. A location map (Figure 1) may be viewed using the link provided at the end of the release.
The 2018 program is designed to identify disseminated and breccia styles of mineralization that are almost exclusively associated with the most-mafic-ultramafic portions of the noritic intrusions. Detailed surface geochemical data has been used to support a re-interpretation of Worldview 3 satellite data to help identify the surface signature of the melanorites. Petrological and geochemical data from drill core and known mineral zones have been used to constrain the 3D geometry of the melanorite, and search for intact keel and root zones to the intrusions where high tenor Ni-Cu-Co-PGM sulphide mineralization may be localized.
The 2018 surface work has commenced with a number of deep-penetrating EM surveys over some of the most prospective large bodies of melanorite. Drilling has commenced on targets associated with the Imiak Hill Complex to the south of Spotty Hill, and along the keel structure of the Fossilik Intrusion to the north of the P-058 mineral zone.
Simultaneously the Company will be continuing the systematic exploration of the district scale Maniitsoq property and advancing corporate social responsibility and infrastructure-related activities.
About North American Nickel
North American Nickel is a mineral exploration company with 100% owned properties in Maniitsoq, Greenland and Sudbury, Ontario.
The Maniitsoq property in Greenland is a Camp scale permitted exploration project comprising 2,985 square km covering numerous high-grade nickel-copper + cobalt sulphide occurrences associated with norite and other mafic-ultramafic intrusions of the Greenland Norite Belt (GNB). The >75km-long belt is situated along, and near, the southwest coast of Greenland accessible from the existing Seqi deep water port with an all year-round shipping season and hydroelectric power potential from a quantified watershed.
The Post Creek/Halcyon property in Sudbury is strategically located adjacent to the past producing Podolsky copper-nickel-platinum group metal deposit of KGHM International Ltd. The property lies along the extension of the Whistle Offset dyke structure. Such geological structures host major Ni-Cu-PGM deposits and producing mines within the Sudbury Camp.
